Marie Cloquet _ High tide or low tide
For this exhibition in Knokke, Marie Cloquet created three windscreens inspired by her travels in Mauritania, where she was struck by the resourcefulness of local fishermen constructing shelter from salvaged materials found on the beach.
Cloquet gathered images from these structures and reworked them into new compositions, printed onto canvas and draped over wooden poles. The resulting pieces blur the boundaries between photography, collage, and painting.
