Ettore Sottsass _ Twenty-seven woods for a Chinese artificial flower

Two memories, separated by decades and continents, lie at the heart of this exhibition. A small window in a Buddhist monastery outside Bangkok, where a lotus flower and a toy aeroplane hung in perfect, silent balance. And a roadside shop in China, overflowing with delicate paper flowers in colours too gentle to be quite real.

The paper flower, handmade and imperishable, felt like a quiet act of kindness: no living thing sacrificed, no death to witness. Beauty without loss. Twenty-Seven Woods for a Chinese Artificial Flower grew from these visions. It is an exhibition that understands art as offering not grand or monumental, but weightless, careful, and rooted in the poetic possibilities of everyday life.
