Isabel Devos _ Contemplative Landscapes
The series Contemplative Landscapes grew out of a fascination with the relationship between humanity and nature, specifically how people seek to control and contain the natural world through dams, bridges, and waterworks, while nature quietly continues on its own terms.
Devos photographs mould, algae, and residues on walls and mooring posts, transforming these overlooked surfaces into imaginary landscapes that evoke the atmosphere of centuries past. Her images are deliberately stripped of obvious context, inviting the viewer into a meditative and quietly poetic world.
